Skateboarding teaches many lessons, such as failure to success, and others that can be carried into everyday life. Watching people conquer fear and accomplish what they once thought was impossible is one of the most fulfilling parts of teaching with Skate ATL!"

"Skateboarding changes the way you look at the world. It teaches you patience, good things don’t come easy, and that no matter how many times you fall, get back up and try again.” I am thankful for all the beautiful places I have been and all the wonderful people I have met through skateboarding. I didn’t know when my mom bought me my first skateboard for Christmas that I would be embarking on a lifelong journey on this wooden toy with wheels. But it has truly changed my life for the better, and I can’t wait to share with others what I have learned along the way." - Mike

Learn About Javan

Skateboarding is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, with participation climbing by over 10% every year. Now that skateboarding is an Olympic sport, its popularity has exploded, and more kids than ever are eager to learn.

For me, this became personal when my 8-year-old daughter showed a real interest in skateboarding. I taught her the basics—how to push off, balance, and get comfortable on her board—but I knew that if she really wanted to improve, she needed lessons from someone more experienced than her dad.

I started looking online for local skateboarding lessons but came up short. Most of what I found was through national referral networks that felt overpriced and disconnected from the local community. That’s when I decided to ask around, and eventually, I found Matt.
