Android App Update
I updated the Android app today. I added Black Diamond & The Grind skateparks to the app. I also removed Progressive, since they are no longer around. I think I have all of the Georgia parks in there. If I’m missing any please let me know in the comments.
Go to the app page to download the newest 2.0 version of the app.
*My phone is currently running Android Gingerbread and this app works just fine. Anyone running Ice Cream Sandwich? Please leave a comment and let me know if the app is working okay. -Thanks!
First Update In A While
First off, I’d like to apologize for the lack of posts lately. I’ve been dealing with some health issues and I’ve had to spend some time in the hospital. Hopefully I will be back at 100% very soon and will be posting on a regular basis.
I know this contest is old news… Even though I’m sick, I did get the motivation to edit(badly) some footage I shot at the Damn Am Atlanta contest in April. You can see the video above.
Dan Plunkett Turns Pro
Posted on the Skate Mental site 1/03/12:
“I guess the last news I have is that Plunkett is pro. No real fancy party where we surprise him and shower him with gifts. Riding for Skate Mental is a gift that keeps on giving…right Dan. Anyway, Dan is one of the best skaters i’ve ever watched skate. Boards in shops Febuary 1st! “
I want to send out a big congrats to Dan! I’ve always really enjoyed this guys deep bag of tricks and consistency. He has fun when he skates and it shows. Well deserved sir!

Happy New Years to everyone, and I hope you all had a fun & safe holiday. We’ve made a few changes to the layout of the site and I hope everyone likes it. We have some new things planned for 2012. We intend to film at least 3 video parts this year of some local Atlanta skaters, so keep an eye out for that.

Grant Taylor – Skater Of The Year 2011
ATL’s own Grant Taylor was officially named Thrasher Magazine’s Skater Of The Year for 2011 and dropped a new sick video clip on the Thrasher website.
Big congrats to Grant for winning SOTY and bringing it home to ATL!
I can’t wait the see his part in The Nike SB Chronicles video that’s about to drop…
SkateATL Skatepark GPS Android App!
So, being an Android user, and a big fan of the GPS capabilities on my phone, I decided to create an android app that contains a list of all of the Georgia skateparks(at least I think I have them all on there) where all you have to do is click on the name of a skatepark and your phone will automatically open up Google Navigator and give you turn-by-turn directions to that park from wherever you’re currently located. I spent a lot of time making this. I know it will come in handy for me, but I’m also hoping some of you other Android users find it useful as well. I’d also love some feedback on it. You can scan the QR code in this post or just click this link to download the app.
Please feel free to leave comments regarding the app, let me know if you come across any bugs, if I left out any skateparks, etc.
